Made For You by Melissa Marr
Release Date: September 16, 2014
Publisher: HarperCollins; 368 pages
Bestselling author of the Wicked Lovely books Melissa Marr’s first contemporary YA novel is a twisted southern gothic tale of obsession, romance, and murder. A killer is obsessed with Eva Tilling. Can she stop him, or will he claim her?

When Eva Tilling wakes up in the hospital, she’s confused—who in her sleepy little North Carolina town could have hit her with their car? And why? But before she can consider the question, she finds that she’s awoken with a strange new skill: the ability to foresee people’s deaths when they touch her. While she is recovering from the hit-and-run, Nate, an old flame, reappears, and the two must traverse their rocky past as they figure out how to use Eva’s power to keep her friends—and themselves—alive. But while Eva and Nate grow closer, the killer grows increasingly frantic in his attempt to get to Eva.

For the first time, New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr has applied her extraordinary talent to contemporary realism. Chilling twists, unrequited obsession, and high-stakes romance drive this Gothic, racy thriller—a story of small-town oppression and salvation. Melissa’s fans, and every YA reader, will find its wild ride enthralling.

Leave it to Melissa Marr to write a book bridging the gap between contemporary and paranormal! That's one of the first thoughts I had about halfway through Made For You.  I can't express how much I loved this book.  From start to finish it captures you in a way that fans of both genres would enjoy. It's just so good and so addicting.

Made For You tells the story of Eva Tilling.  Eva is a teenage girl who pretty much has a good life.  She's lives her life like a normal teenager would.  Then one day while walking home from a party, she is run over by a car.  Eva is left with numerous scars on her face and a broken leg.  But with the physical injuries there is also a strange side effect as well from the accident.  When someone touches her, she sees their death.  And after someone else is killed, Eva begins to wonder if her accident was really an accident or an attempt on her life.

One of the shining moments from Made For You is Judge's point of view.  I am a big fan of multiple point of view tellings of books.  It keeps things fresh, and give alternate points of view of the going ons in a book.  I am gonna say this pretty bluntly.  Judge is a psychopath.  But being inside his mind was truly amazing.  Because he doesn't think that any of the things he is doing is wrong.  He believes there is a purpose and he is seeking his reward.  This is amazing storytelling.  And the fact that his true identity is concealed from readers makes a great guessing game.  I found myself flipping back to his chapters to look for clues.  And as a reader, when you figure out who he is.  It really just clicks.

It also helps that Eva is a pretty likeable character.  Even though she's a popular girl, she's not shallow.  Her relationship with her best friend Grace is a true blue friendship.  Plus the story with her and Nate gives the readers something to root for.  Because some parts of the book are pretty bone chilling.  I am not a big fan of horror, and while this isn't a horror novel.  There are some pretty cringeworthy, hide under your blanket moments, that are written so clearly that you get a good visual in your head.

I highly recommend Made For You.  It's a book for both young adult contemporary and paranormal fans.  With it's great characters and interesting storyline, it is definitely a hit for this fall!
