Blog Tour: My Everything by Heidi McLaughlin Review + Giveaway

My Everything by Heidi McLaughlin
(Beaumont, #1.5)
Release Date: March 18, 2013
Publisher: Mad Bear Publishing; 61 pages
When Nick Ashford lost his friend, Mason, he didn’t realize he was going to lose his family as well, but that’s exactly what happened. Alone and in a foreign country, Nick is working on rebuilding his life one patient at a time, that is, until a striking volunteer makes her presence known.

Can Nick finish his year in Africa without risking his heart being broken again, or is he willing to start a new chapter in his life before his return to Beaumont?

Heidi told me not dislike Nick as much as I did; she said he wasn't a bad guy and I all but laughed when she said this. I stand corrected. I still don't really care for Nick, I don't know why - maybe it's because of how he came off in Forever My Girl but I just can't fully like him. However, in My Everything he definitely gets the chance to redeem himself and he does a very good job at it.

Nick is volunteering for a year in Africa to help care for kids that are in need of it. He wasn't expecting anything when he went down there but he knew he needed to do it to get over everything he lost in his life. His biggest regret was not losing Josie to her ex-boyfriend (now current beau), Liam Page Westbury but walking out on their son, Noah, without so much as a goodbye. He was angry and hurt by Josie and didn't think. It is something that weighs on him his whole time away and something he'll never forgive himself for.

He wasn't looking for love while volunteering but love has a funny way of surfacing when you least expect it. Aubrey, a volunteer nurse, caught his attention and he wasn't planning on acting on it until late into his stay. It's a fast, all in type relationship and usually I'm one that goes 'no way' to something so fast but you know what? It works. These two fit perfectly together, they respect one another and you can see how deep the feelings go even as they're getting to know one another.

Things get interesting when Aubrey and Nick move back to his hometown of Beaumont and run into his ex, Josie.

It's definitely a great filler to satisfy you while you wait for the next Beaumont book but it also helps you get over your dislike for Nick that you probably had while reading Forever My Girl. (At least, it lessens that dislike) If you've read Forever My Girl, I definitely recommend downloading this to your ereader or phone pronto. If you haven't read the first book, I think you might want to get on that.

Thank you Heidi for inviting me to be a part of your blog tour.
