Breathless by Brigid Kemmerer Review

Breathlessby Brigid Kemmerer
(Elemental, #2.5)
Release Date: April 30, 2013
Publisher: K-Teens; 62 pages
Too many secrets. Not enough time.

Nick Merrick is supposed to be the level-headed one. The peacemaker. Since it’s just him and his three hotheaded brothers against the world, that’s a survival tactic.

But now he’s got problems even his brothers can’t help him survive.

His so-called girlfriend, Quinn, is going quick as mercury from daring to crazy. Meanwhile, Quinn’s dancer friend Adam is throwing Nick off balance, forcing him to recognize a truth he’d rather shove back into the dark.

He can feel it—-the atmosphere is sizzling. Danger is on the way. But whatever happens next, Nick is starting to find out that sometimes nothing you do can keep the peace.

This series is seriously one of my favorites, hands down. I literally stopped reading the book I had started when I was sent this novella from the publisher. That is how much I love this series (especially since the book I was reading was one I waited a long time for). I don't think this novella disappointed. The only thing it disappointed was in length but I know, it's only a novella. It makes me sad to know I have to wait about a year for Nick's full length novel but after reading this, I am counting down the days. (Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about Hunter and his book in August...)

Breathless was everything I wanted and more; much more. I know a lot of people aren't fans of Quinn's and they're hoping for a break up in this novella but, even though I wasn't the biggest fan of hers, I like her a lot more after having read this. Not only is Breathless from Nick Merrick's point of view, but it's also from Quinn's.

I have this feeling that Quinn is going to be a big part of this battle the Merrick's are heading in to. I don't necessarily have a good feeling about it, though, but I am excited to see more of her now.

It's nice to finally see inside Nick's head, though. After having been inside the rest of his brother's head and Hunter's I couldn't wait to find out what really went on inside the peacemaker's head. What we see you wouldn't see from looking at him. A quote that Quinn says is the absolute truth. Though he and Gabriel are identical on the outside they are polar opposite's on the inside and damn, if that ain't the truth. Gabriel is a hot head and Nick is cool, calm and collected - or is he?

There are two steamy scenes in this book. Both I loved but one more than the other. There are so many things I really want to say about this novella but I really can't. You have to read this, if you are a fan of this series there is no excuse you could give me to not read this. Plus, it'll satisfy you while we all sit here and patiently wait for Spirit.

Thank you to Kensington for sending me this novella to read and review honestly.
