Tallis by M.C. Rae
(Books of Andresium, #1)
Release Date: April 17, 2012
P ublisher: Tulipe Noire Press; 58 pages

The Empire of Andresium is threatened by the corruption of the immortals, ancient beings given the gift of eternal life after the death of the last reigning empress. A prophecy speaks of their eventual downfall at the hands of one of their own, however. Tallis is known by most simply as "The Loren," and seeks to avoid her destiny while trying herself to remain untainted by the decaying morals and indifference to the fates of men that plague her kind. As the events of the prophecy begin to unfold, Tallis finds herself conflicted between upholding her dedication to justice, and falling victim to the ramifications of following the desires of her own heart.

I have to say when I first started reading this book I thought it would be an easy read because it is shorter novella, but the language the author used in this book surprised me, it was still an easy read because the story is amazing; but the language it is kind of an ‘archaic’ language. For me, stuff like this or like old Shakespeare language is harder for me to read. Not that I’m stupid or anything, lol I just happen to read over words fast, even though I’m a slower reader so these types of languages make me read even slower. I always want to make sure that I am understanding everything.

I thought at first that I wasn’t going to like this book because of the different language, but I was quickly proven wrong. The beginning for me was a bit slow, that was only because of the different writing style, but the story itself is very emotional and you seem to get attached to Tallis and want to see her not fall victim for the prophecy.

I really enjoyed the love both Tallis and Tarameen had for each other, but that they were both scared to share that love because the both though themselves unworthy of the other. You just know when that happens, a great love will form with the two people, and it did. You could really feel the love between these two and how much admiration they had for each other.

The ending of this book was amazing. Clearly, there should be if there isn’t a second book, but I just love the decision Tallis decided to make, it was the right decision for her and for Tarameen. This book won me over very quickly, you should definitely check it out!! Amazing story!!
